The Aladdin lamp is one of the safest, if not the safest, non-electric lamps on the market today. The patented Aladdin burner is non-pressurized. It burns mostly oxygen, and the fuel consumption is very low (94% oxygen, 6% fuel vapor). Aladdin lamps do not produce noxious fumes or high amounts of carbon monoxide. Kerosene is not explosive. Kerosene also has a very high flash point and would most likely extinguish a lighted match rather than catch on fire. The new synthetic kerosene, Clear-Lite, has a higher flash point than kerosene and burns just a clean as 1-K kerosene. We do not recommend use of lamp oil or Paraffin oil. The lamp oils are full of impurities that will clog the wick, causing burning problems. Paraffin oil burns too hot in the Aladdin lamps, causing burning problems and bluing of the burner and gallery. Good, 1-K grade kerosene will always be water-clear and have very little odor. Usually available in quarts and gallon sizes, 1-K kerosene will be cheaper than lamp oil or Paraffin oil. NEVER USE ANY EXPLOSIVE FUEL IN YOUR ALADDIN LAMP!! We recommend at least 3 feet of clearance from the top of the chimney to the ceiling. The Aladdin produces a large stream of heat that comes off the top of the chimney. Hanging lamps can be mounted within 18” of the ceiling, because the smoke bell defuses the stream of heat. Please familiarize yourself with the safety tips listed in the Aladdin Mantle Lamp Enjoyment Manual before using your lamp. If you have any questions, please send us an e-mail. Menu |
