The Giant Raptor with Terrifying Claws!

The CollectA Utahraptor #88510 brings the largest known raptor dinosaur to life with exceptional detail. This massive dromaeosaurid featured enormous sickle-shaped claws on its feet, a feathered body, and a powerful build that made it one of the most formidable predators of the Early Cretaceous. CollectA's expertly sculpted replica captures every detail of this fearsome hunter, from the lifelike feather texture to the terrifying 9-inch killing claws that gave raptors their deadly reputation.

The Ultimate Raptor

Utahraptor ostrommaysi lived approximately 135-125 million years ago during the Early Cretaceous Period in what is now Utah. First discovered in 1991, Utahraptor revolutionized our understanding of raptor dinosaurs. At up to 23 feet long and weighing around 1,000 pounds (half a ton), Utahraptor was five times larger than its famous relative Velociraptor and remains the largest known dromaeosaurid ever discovered.

Discovered in Utah

Utahraptor was discovered in 1991 in eastern Utah by paleontologist James Kirkland. The discovery was perfectly timed—the movie Jurassic Park was in production, and filmmakers had enlarged Velociraptor to make it more impressive. When Utahraptor was discovered, it proved that giant raptors actually existed! The species name honors paleontologists John Ostrom and Chris Mays, who revolutionized our understanding of dinosaur behavior and evolution.

The Killing Claw

Utahraptor's most fearsome weapon was the enormous sickle-shaped claw on the second toe of each foot. These claws could reach 9 inches in length and were held off the ground while walking, keeping them razor-sharp. When attacking prey, Utahraptor would kick forward with these claws, slashing and gripping its victim. Combined with powerful jaws full of serrated teeth and grasping hands with sharp claws, Utahraptor was a supremely efficient predator.

Pack Hunter or Solitary Predator?

Evidence suggests Utahraptor may have hunted in packs, allowing it to take down prey much larger than itself, including large herbivorous dinosaurs. The combination of intelligence, speed, powerful claws, and possible pack-hunting behavior made Utahraptor one of the most dangerous predators of the Early Cretaceous. Its size and weaponry meant it could tackle prey that smaller raptors couldn't dream of hunting.

Feathered Like a Bird

Like other dromaeosaurids, Utahraptor was almost certainly covered in feathers. CollectA's replica beautifully captures this feathered covering with detailed texture. The feathers would have provided insulation, possibly aided in display behaviors, and may have been used when brooding eggs. Despite its fearsome appearance, Utahraptor was more closely related to modern birds than to other dinosaurs like T. rex.

Authentic CollectA Craftsmanship

CollectA's attention to detail is evident in every aspect of this Utahraptor replica. The sickle claws are accurately sculpted and positioned, the feather texture is realistic, and the body proportions reflect current scientific understanding. Measuring 5.3 inches long by 2 inches high, this figurine is perfect for display, educational purposes, or imaginative prehistoric adventures.
