About Common Zebras:

The Common Zebra (also called Plains Zebra or Burchell's Zebra) is the most widespread and numerous of the three zebra species. These striking animals are famous for their black and white stripes, and amazingly, no two zebras have exactly the same stripe pattern—each is as unique as a human fingerprint! Scientists believe the stripes serve multiple purposes: confusing predators when zebras run in groups, deterring biting flies, and helping zebras recognize each other. Common zebras live in family groups led by a dominant stallion, with several mares and their foals. They're highly social animals that communicate through facial expressions, sounds, and body language. Zebras can run up to 40 mph to escape predators like lions and hyenas. They're grazers that eat mostly grass and can travel long distances in search of food and water. Despite looking like horses, zebras have never been successfully domesticated—they're too unpredictable and have a strong flight instinct. Zebras are symbols of the African savanna!
