About Norwegian Forest Cats:

The Norwegian Forest Cat (called 'Skogkatt' in Norway) is an ancient breed that may have traveled with Vikings on their ships over 1,000 years ago! These cats are built for survival in harsh Scandinavian winters, with a thick, water-resistant double coat, tufted ears, and large paws that act like snowshoes. Norwegian Forest Cats are large, muscular cats weighing 12-16 pounds, with males sometimes reaching 20 pounds. They have a distinctive triangular-shaped head, almond-shaped eyes, and a long, bushy tail. Despite their wild appearance, Norwegian Forest Cats are gentle, friendly, and patient. They're excellent climbers and love to perch in high places. These cats are intelligent, playful, and form strong bonds with their families while remaining independent. The breed nearly became extinct but was saved by Norwegian breeders in the 1930s. They're now treasured as Norway's national cat!
