About Nothronychus:
Nothronychus was a bizarre therizinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous Period, about 92 million years ago in what is now New Mexico. Despite being a theropod (the group that includes T. rex and Velociraptor), Nothronychus was a plant-eater! It had a pot belly for digesting vegetation, a long neck for reaching plants, and enormous claws up to 3 feet long—not for hunting, but for pulling down branches. Covered in feathers for insulation, this 16-foot-long dinosaur represents one of the most unusual evolutionary adaptations in dinosaur history.
