About Lion Cubs:

Lion cubs are born after a 3.5-month pregnancy, weighing only 2-4 pounds and completely helpless. They're born with their eyes closed and don't open them until about 10 days old. Lion cubs have spotted coats when young—these spots help camouflage them in tall grass and gradually fade as they mature. Cubs are incredibly playful, spending their days wrestling, pouncing, and play-fighting with their siblings and other cubs in the pride. This play is crucial for developing the hunting and fighting skills they'll need as adults! Lion cubs nurse for about 6 months but start eating meat at around 3 months. All the females in a pride help raise the cubs communally, nursing and protecting each other's babies. Cubs face many dangers—about 80% don't survive to adulthood due to predators, starvation, and male lions taking over prides.
