About Lipizzaner Stallions:
The Lipizzaner (or Lipizzan) is a European breed of riding horse developed in the Habsburg Empire and named after the Lipica stud farm near Trieste. Lipizzaner stallions are world-famous as the stars of the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, where they perform classical dressage and 'airs above the ground'—spectacular jumping movements developed for battle. The levade is one of these movements, where the horse balances on its hindquarters at a 30-45 degree angle. Lipizzaners are born dark (bay or black) and gradually turn grey, becoming nearly white by age 6-10. They typically stand 14.2-15.2 hands high with compact, powerful builds. Lipizzaner stallions are known for their intelligence, willingness to learn, and ability to perform incredibly difficult movements with grace. The breed has been carefully preserved for over 400 years, making them living treasures of European equestrian heritage!
