The Flying Reptile with the Enormous Head!

Take flight with Dimorphodon—the "two-form tooth" pterosaur with one of the most distinctive profiles in prehistoric skies! This deluxe CollectA replica features an articulated movable jaw that brings this Early Jurassic flyer to life. With its enormous puffin-like head, long tail, and wings covered in detailed pycnofibres (primitive feather-like structures), this figure captures the unique appearance of one of the earliest known pterosaurs.

Premium Deluxe Features & Scientific Accuracy

  • Movable jaw mechanism - articulated lower jaw opens and closes for interactive play
  • Meticulously sculpted pycnofibres - fuzzy body covering based on fossil evidence
  • Two types of teeth - sharp front fangs and smaller back teeth (hence "two-form tooth")
  • Leathery wing membranes - detailed creases create realistic texture
  • Long, stiffened tail - used for steering during flight
  • Model #88798 - part of CollectA's prestigious Deluxe Prehistoric Life series

Master of the Jurassic Skies

Dimorphodon lived approximately 200-190 million years ago during the Early Jurassic Period along the coasts of what is now England. Despite its enormous head (which made up nearly a quarter of its body length!), Dimorphodon's skull was surprisingly lightweight with large air pockets. The name "two-form tooth" refers to its unique dental arrangement: large, pointed teeth at the front of the jaw for catching prey, and smaller teeth toward the back for gripping.

With a wingspan of about 4.5 feet, Dimorphodon was a relatively small pterosaur that likely hunted insects, small vertebrates, and fish along coastal cliffs. Recent fossil evidence suggests its body was covered in pycnofibres—primitive fuzzy structures similar to feathers—helping it maintain body temperature. The movable jaw feature lets young paleontologists experience the snapping bite of this aerial hunter!
