About Plateosaurus:
Plateosaurus was one of the first large dinosaurs, living during the Late Triassic Period about 214-204 million years ago in what is now Europe. Growing up to 33 feet long and weighing up to 4 tons, Plateosaurus was a prosauropod—an early relative of the giant sauropods like Brachiosaurus. It could walk on all fours or rear up on its hind legs to reach high vegetation. Plateosaurus had a small head, long neck, and leaf-shaped teeth perfect for eating plants. This dinosaur represents an important evolutionary step toward the giant long-necked dinosaurs that would dominate later periods.
